I was skeptical of the value of this frying pan, but being a fan of the brand, I decided to plunk down my hard earned dollars and take a chance. Boy am I glad that I did! This is a thick pan that heats evenly and doesn't warp like so many of the thinner nonstick products. The handle is hollow and the overall weight of the pan is much lighter than Le Creuset's typical cast iron pans. I have cooked hashbrowns, eggs, pork, burgers, chicken, fried rice, etc. in this pan and it works well for everything. Clean-up is a breeze. Le Crueset says it is dishwasher safe (although it might discolor) but recommends hand washing. The instructions recommend seasoning the pan with vegetable oil before its first use. I did this and haven't had to use any non-stick spray for anything. Cooking meat in this pan surprised me. With the pan on a medium setting, I am able to brown the meat and seal in the flavor much like a cast iron pan. They also make a slightly deeper version of the pan which is great if you like to cook all-in-one stove top meals. The deeper version has a fitted lid that costs twenty dollars extra.

Delamination within 6 months: poor warranty service, October 19, 2010

I had always loved my cast iron cookware from this company: however they can not make non-stick cookware; I suggest you look elsewhere. 6 months after I purchased my pan it began to delaminate. The coating started seperating from the cooking surface. Who wants pieces of non-stick coating in their scrambled eggs?

I called their warranty line. They don't staff it with enough people because you have to wait forever to get through and they throw you to voice mail if it's busy. When you get through to them, they will politely explain to you that they don't pay for you to ship the pan back, despite what it says on their web site. That's right! now I'm out an additional 20 bucks!

THANK YOU LE CRUESET - for showing me the best side of corporate indifference. I could get better warranty service if I'd bought from WilliamsSonoma who stand by their products: however I wanted to buy local. Now I understand why my local kitchen store stopped stocking their stuff. Next time, I will buy a cheap pan at Target and if it last a year then I'm still ahead of the game.

Meanwhile, I will ask my gypsy friends to curse the Le Cruset executives who are apparently making tons of money by ripping off their customers.

Most amateur cooks are either unaware of or ignore the true French saute pan, of which this is a superb exemplar. The very best thing about this shape, with accompanying lid, is that it can work as either a saute or as a brazing pan, since it has all the best features to braize (low sides and lid).

I recently got this to replace my old Calphalon anodized aluminum pots, as I ultimately felt these did not work as well on electric stoves as they did on gas. Among other things, they actually tended to warp a bit. I'm expecting this stainless steel clad construction will satisfy me for far longer than the old black aluminum.

I've used this bad boy several times since I've gotten it and it has worked like a champ. I expect to use it almost as often as the workhorse 6 quart stock pot.

This pan is great! I use it on an almost daily basis for sauces, stir fry, and the like. High sides keep the sauce in the pan and off the stovetop. Cleans easily. This pan and the 6 quart saute pan are the two pans I use the most.

Of the top 5 pans that no kitchen should be with out, the ALL-Clad MC2 saute pan is tied for number one in my book. Not only does the Master Chef 2 line cook better then ALL-Clad's "bread and butter" stainless line, it's also less expensive. Sauteing, shallow frying, poaching, steaming, you name it this pan can do it. I'm not a big fan of buying cookware sets, and that's why i purchased this pan seperately and paid the price, but its worth every penny. Cooking in this saute pan produces an incredible "fond" (little bits of food particles), that when deglazed, produce an extraordinary pan sauce. This is something I would NEVER want to cook without. In fact, I plan on willing it to my children so they can have the same enjoyment that I have had.

It looks like a very nice lid. Attractive. well-made, and came very well packed.

Unfortunately, even though the listing says "Fits standard Lodge 12 inch dia pans," it does not. We made the "mistake" of buying the Lodge P12S3 cast iron skillet, and the lid rides on TOP of the skillet rim, not down in the skillet. We bought a 10" model, and the same thing occurs for the 10" model. I don't know what Lodge considers "standard Lodge 12 inch dia pans," but it is surely not the 12" skillet that we ordered and received. This is probably more of a criticism of Amazon and their listing than the product, but we unfortunately don't have a skillet that it DOES fit, so we have no way to tell. We have been very happy with Lodge skillets over the years.

Update:
We bought "Lodge Pro-Logic Pre-Seasoned 10-Inch Skillet" Model P10S3. We bought cover GC10 because it says that it "Fits standard Lodge 10.25 inch dia pans." It doesn't fit.
We bought "Lodge Pro-Logic Pre-Seasoned 12-Inch Skillet" Model P12S3. We bought cover GC12 because it says that it "Fits standard Lodge 12 inch dia pans." It doesn't fit.
Poking around the Lodge website, I find
P10S3 Skillet, 10" dia. P10L3 Cover, 10" dia.
P12S3 Skillet, 12 dia. P12L3 Cover, 12" dia.
I did not see images of the covers or information about whether they are oven safe or not.
Amazon apparently does not carry the lids for the skillets that we bought.

But on [...] models are not listed, either, so one must do some more research just to find what covers fit which skillets.
I selected the L?SK3 series, but no covers were listed.
Further poking got me to glass covers here

...and at last I know which covers go with which skillets.

I also prefer a lid with a loop handle because it is easier to hang. With the knob on top, storing the cover will not be as easy.

I am not writing a review because I purchased this and had a bad experience with it because I did not purchase it as of yet, which is why I am not giving this a 5 star rating as of yet... However, the picture alone shows a red crossed out symbol with a picture of oil, butter and non stick spray, which is basically stating that you do not have to use oil with the pan which is not entirely true but per a review via you tube it stated to at least season the pan at least twice a year which probably means for someone using it sparingly but again I have never used it so really I do not know for sure how often to season it to keep the life of it, plus for anyone that owns any metal utensels, it is not recommended using them, even though it shows via the informerial that it stood up to thousands of harsh abrasions, it only makes sense that eventually the pan will break down and the only reason why I am making this point is because even though it states that it has a lifetime warranty which is true, you are the one that is responsible for shipping and handle probably both ways at that so be careful... for all you people that gave a bad review... apparently you did not follow the instrutions as directed because I watched serveral reviews on youtube.com and when making eggs and even potatoes(hash browns) nothing stuck! So for anyone weary about trying out at least the one pan advertised, as long as you follow the seasoning instruction that come with the pan to the T, you should have no problems! Do yourselves a favor and watch some of the reviews via you tube to see for yourself and do not listen to any of these bad reviews on here as they probably did not follow those instructions as they should have!

I have a pan. I followed the directions for seasoning before I used it. I like it very much. I treat it the same way I would a cast iron skillet and have had no problems with it. I am considering getting a full set.

I purchased the 2 skillets from the company directly. After one use the small skillet has a scratch in it - don't know how since I do not use metal utensils. They really do need a little spray or butter when you cook because the food will stick. Easy to clean
